| Type | Description | Usages |
|---|---|---|
| Omni-Directional | A vertically aligned antenna which radiates signal 360 degress from the antenna | Found on most home access points, but can also be used for outdoor coverage when you are limited on wireless radios |
| Yagi | A very directional antenna with a beamwidth of between 10 - 40 degrees | Most commonly used for point-to-point links between two fixed installations. |
| Sector | A directional antenna which provide good Distance and Range, They come in 30, 60, 90, 120 degrees | These are used over omni's in WISP solutions because they have alot better range as the signal is focused (You would need 3 x 120 degress to get omni coverage but you will have 3-5 times the distance depending on gain/power. These are exactly the same type of antenna in use on most cellular masts. |
| Patch | A highly directional antenna with a beamwidth of between 10 - 40 degrees | Are used in play of Yagi's in short PtP links are very compact and dont standout on the side of buildings like Yagi's and Parabolics |
| Parabolic | Highly directional with incredibly focused beamwidth for | Range of up to 30km when used with the correct radio hardware. |
